Blackthorn
is currently a Division II club that plays in the Mid Atlantic Rugby Football
Union (MARFU). We offer rugby for most any age. Blackthorn fields two highly competitive
Mens level teams. We also play Old Boys rugby for players over the age of 35.
In addition to ours men's teams, we offer rugby to high school age players. Our
high school team has players that range in age from 14 to 19. The Blackthorn Youth
program ages 8-14 offers flag rugby for the young.

Fall Season 2008
Fall Training and the Atlantic Cup As announced several weeks ago, training for the Fall season will begin on August 5th- Tues and Thurs nights, 7:00 at Fair Oaks Park in Upper Moreland (7's practice location). In addition, Blackthorn has entered a side in the Atlantic Cup Tournament on August 16-17 in Dewey Beach, Delaware. This is the first step toward preparing for the Fall season, so we need as many players as possible available for the weekend. Since it is a 2 day tournament, we'll be looking to book hotel rooms and camp sites. For more information, Contact Pat Dufner, at captain@blackthornrugby.com
AJ Foundation Website: www.ajfoundation.org The event is at the Briarwood Day camp. See directions below. A tax deductible donation of $50 per player is suggested, but if you want to give more, you are welcome to. This includes all the food and drink you can handle. Commemortive polos will be available for $40 each. They will have same logo AJ Foundation logo that the jerseys usually have on them. Anyone is free to camp at the Corless compound as early as Friday. There will be plenty of rugby for those that want to play. For Directions click below
Once again, this event is open to everyone- friends, wives, girlfriends, recruits, etc- who would like to attend. It is a great day/night/next morning with live music, swimming and much more than just rugby. I (would like to see a strong Blackthorn presence. If anyone is interested in camping out Sat. night, get back to me at captain@blackthornrugby.com so we can plan where to set up "tent city".

Joe Gunn, a member of the short-lived Blackthorn college team and the men's club during the mid '90s, officially opened Jose Pistola's (Joe Gunn's) on 08/29/07. Jose Pistola's, located on the corner of 15th and Locust, is a Beer Bar-Taco-ria serving great beer, tacos, burritos, etc... World Cup matches broadcasted on Versus will be shown on the second floor."
