Ruggers young and old and middle-aged,
Blackthorn Youth Rugby held 2 indoor rugby clinics this past month, on the 2nd and 9th of February at XL Sports World in Hatfield, Pa. Prospective players in grades 5 through 9 were invited to learn the basics of rugby from the BRFC youth coaches. A 4th grader snuck in there and turned out to be Coach EJ’s and my favorite. The players were broken up into experienced and beginner groups, learning the basics of passing, supporting, rucking, and tackling. The clinics were well-attended, with around 20 kids at the second session. Thanks to the youth coaches, and especially CJ Fitzgerald for leading this. Reminder that the U13 side is still looking for an extra coach or two.
We have a LOT of events coming up this Spring, so take a look at the list below and GET INVOLVED. We would especially love to see you at the BRFC March Madness basketball pick-up games at the Crefeld School in Chestnut Hill, every Wed. night in March from 8-9:30 pm. Your support helped us to secure this gym, so come out and take advantage of the gym and get a run in with your BRFC teammates.
College Settlement is looking for some fresh faces on their committees and both Boards (College Settlement Camps, and Summer Camps). Board meets about 9 times a year, committees no more than once per month, or as needed. Anyone interested email your name, phone and email so I can pass it along to the Board Development Committee.
Duck jumped off after serving for a number of years. Myself and Joe McCreavy are still serving on the board and some committees.
Don't be scared, it's fun.
